Frequently asked questions

What size should an Instagram post be?

A 1080 x 1350 px portrait (4:5) photo is a strong default, because it fills more of the feed than a square. Use 1080 x 1080 px for a square, or 1080 x 1440 px for the tallest portrait. Instagram keeps photos 1080 px wide at full resolution within its supported range.

What size is an Instagram story?

A story is 1080 x 1920 px with a 9:16 ratio. That figure comes from Meta design requirements for story ads, which state a minimum of 600 x 1067 px. Instagram does not publish one exact organic story size, so this one is a recommendation, not a rule.

Why does Instagram crop my photo?

Instagram accepts a limited range of shapes in the feed, and it trims any photo outside that range to fit. The grid and story views also show their own shapes. Resize with Crop to fill and set the focal point yourself, so the part you want to keep stays in view.

Why does my photo look blurry on Instagram?

Uploads are processed by Instagram, so a posted photo is not identical to the file you sent. Oversized files are made smaller and enlarged ones look soft. Upload a sharp photo that is already 1080 px wide, and avoid stretching a small image to reach that size.

Can I post a landscape photo?

Yes. Instagram accepts wide photos down to about 1.91:1, but they take up less of the screen than a portrait. To fill the feed, use Crop to fill with a 4:5 size. To keep the full scene, choose Fit with padding and pick a background color.

Are my photos uploaded to this site?

No. Your photos are resized in your browser and are never uploaded here, so nothing about them is stored on a server. You only upload to Instagram yourself, afterward. The page needs no account, and the files carry no watermark.
